Where To Network
Have you every wondered about all the places to network? I guess the more important question is - where not to network!
If you ask me, building relationships and getting to know people can be done everywhere. If we use the word “network” as most people do, there would be restrictions on where you would network. I like to look at my definition of networking as something that can be done anywhere, anytime and with anyone. It is all about helping other people. Now - who wouldn’t like to have someone offer to make introductions or help them get to another level in business through introductions? So the answer to me on Where to Network? EVERYWHERE!
Damara Diamond of Strategic Environs has a very unique business, but let me get you more interested first. I met Damara when she was in a class I was teaching at the Chicagoland Chamber on the art and skill of relationship networking. She was dressed in this oriental silk top and came up to talk with me after the presentation. Damara is a Feng Shui - Energy specialist that works with commercial developers throughout the world on developing projects that are environmentally in congruence with the earths energy. I love the quote on their website - “Environments Optimized for Success”. She and I decided to meet up and get to know each other better.
A few months passed and we met again at a Chicagoland Chamber event. We now had our calendars and made our date to meet for a one-on-one. Two months ago that happened, and I am still reeling from the education and processes that Damara discussed and I have implemented. Damara has become a good referral source for me and I hope to refer her to many developers and architects in the future.
Being open to new experiences in networking opens so many doors and opens your mind to knowledge you may never have experienced.
So where do you network? EVERYWHERE! But network with the Boomerang Networking concept of giving first before asking for anything in return.
